Steve/Ed- Two great posts on the Holden Arboretum! Having participated in commenting on Ed's Forest Aesthetics evaluation paper, and having just read Bob's Broad Brook forest aesthetics essay, I would be interested in your comments from a forest aesthetics perspective of 1) the area in the magnolia picture, and the portion of the Holden Arboretum that you visited.
I saw a lot to like, aesthetically, in the accompanying photos, and some comments that went towards an ecological based forest aesthetic...was there more, worth of note? -Don Date: Mon, 20 Apr 2009 14:57:36 -0400 Subject: [ENTS] Re: Holden Arboretum, Ohio From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Ed- It was great to get out and do some exploring---here are a few more photos from the trip. The more I look at the pics and think about, the more I think the maple with the exceptionally rough bark was really a black maple, Acer nigrum, rather than a sugar maple.
