Two great posts on the Holden Arboretum!

Having participated in commenting on Ed's Forest Aesthetics evaluation paper, 
and having just read Bob's Broad Brook forest aesthetics essay, I would be 
interested in your comments from a forest aesthetics perspective of 1) the area 
in the magnolia picture, and the portion of the Holden Arboretum that you 
visited.

I saw a lot to like, aesthetically, in the accompanying photos, and some 
comments that went towards an ecological based forest aesthetic...was there 
more, worth of note?

It was great to get out and do some exploring---here are a few more photos from 
the trip. The more I look at the pics and think about, the more I think the 
maple with the exceptionally rough bark was really a black maple, Acer nigrum, 
rather than a sugar maple.
