Thanks for the info on Ohio geology. In a way, the features must be
more dramatic since they are unexpected. The one John McPhee book I
haven't read yet is "Crossing the Craton"  - which is about basically
everything in between Pennsylvania and the Rocky Mountains - but along
I-80.

You mentioned the Canadian Shield and now I am dying to go walk on
that oldest exposed rock. Bit far though...

And thanks for this picture that shows some geology in your region.

The trip you all took is inspiring and your detailed descriptions help
to decipher what's going on.
