The grove can retain it's name. The renaming of the tall forest area of the park to give a sense of general ownership or belonging along with a perceived magnitude of size and importance is good marketing. Generally speaking, typical urban dwellars are generally more drawn to things that they feel belonging to, such as local sports teams, or in this case, the commonwealth. They probably don't feel strongly drawn to places with indigenous ties, not any more so than to places with ties to their own heritage - which most of them ignore or have forgotten and really don't care about.
