I am having an argument with a friend on the west coast. He claims that California black oak (Quercus kelloggii) can get larger than any oak species on the east coast. Of course I disagree and that the Live oaks of the south (East Coast &Louisiana) are the largest of North America. I have a small friendly wager riding on this, besides I don’t want the west coast to claim any more tree superlatives. Look forward to your replies!
