Ah, very interesting. I presume you used an extension ring for the bayonet?

Novoflex makes such a reversal ring called EOS-RETRO, and they recommend the
EF 28-105 zoom lens for use with it. Personally I would rather use a prime
lens, but the 28-70 should do.

The Novoflex system uses a rather long spiral cord for the connection
between camera and lens mount. But the EF uses a serial protocol,so you
should use shielded cables.

I have also thought of building such a reverse ring for use on my old M42
