According to a previous message
1) Nikon's VR starts up faster then Canon's IS
2) can automatically detect panning
3) can pan in both vertical and horizontal direction
(not sure about that, though)
Also some people say that IS gives more then 2 stops
improvement. So maybe the optimistic 3 stops from
Nikon is closer to reality then the conservative 2
stops from Canon.
