I've got an early Canon 75-300 non USM and even though the lens rotates
when zooming and focusing, it produces very nice photos for me. It does not
have full time manual focus. If you can afford it, buy the Canon EF 100-300
USM lens. Avoid extreme tele ranges such as 28-300, they are too big, heavy,
and usually have lower optical quality. If you really need auto focus (I
don't, I prefer manual focus) make sure you get a USM lens.
