In the december issue of Chasseur d(images they tested the stabilisation function of
the EF100-400 and the AF-D VR 80-400.
In general they conclude that at the 400 mm side sharp images are obtained down to
1/30 seconds for both lenses with IS/VR
turned on and 1/250 sec without it.
Assuming the rule t= 1/focal length IS/VR gives a +3-stop gain.
They also discovered that there is a problem with the AF-D VR at 1/60 with the VR
turned on : the image wasn't pinsharp at
this speed. The problem disapeared at 1/30 sec. Bizar.
