No. The manual specifically warns against changing focus in AF mode.

It does, but it is not strange; Just zoom it to get the result you need.

also, take some pics(not hand-holding) and enlarge them to whatever you
may be using your lens, so you can compare and decide about those extra
200$. I haven't made anything larger than 5x7 with it yet, but those 5x7
are sharp, contrasty and flare-free
