It's not crappy, it just a whole different ball game. 
The A-TTL and TTL flash modes employed by your EZ
flash determine exposure by measuring the light
reflected off the film.  The D-30 has no film, and no
metering cells to measure the light reflected off the
non-existent film.

Besides, you're spending $3000 to get the absolute
latest in Canon technology, and then you want to use
it with a flash that represents 10 year old Canon
technology.  Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
