Hi Gary,

The problem with the pre-flash BEETTL syndrome seems to be accentuated
when using slow sync and 2nd curtain sync.

When I was struggling to decide between keeping my 430EZ (A-TTL/TTL)
and upgrading to an expensive 420EX or 550EX flash (E-TTL/TTL). Then I
found an interesting thread in news:rec.photo.equipment.35mm
  http://deja.com/viewthread.xp?AN=629523265

Since it is clear that EX flash is capable of functioning as a TTL-only
flash (when used on a type B body), the question is how to enable the
TTL-only mode for a type A body. It's a matter of enabling an intrinsic
function, not crippling a flash.

So far on this List, we have had suggestions of attacking the hotshoe,
using tape or other insulator, reverse-engineering a HSA, etc. But
no-one has confirmed a method that works (yet).

Cheers
Julian Loke
