Before you buy give the Gitzo 1227 a serious look. I have the same setup as
some one mentioned before, G1227+Linhof Profi II, great pod at a reasonable
weight. The price is not bad if you order from Robert White in the UK:
http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/. They currently have the G1227 for 226 pound
sterling, and I believe that that they charged me about 40-50 pounds for 3
day shipping (email them for a quote, they are very responsive). This works
out to about 276 pounds and the exchange rate is down so it converts to
about $405 USD.
They also have the G1127 for 196 pounds plus shipping. I'm not familiar
with the G1127 but I know it is smaller and lighter.
They can also ship via airmail for cheaper but it is a lot longer IIRC.
