Heretic!!!!!!

When I claimed the Sigma 14 was crippled by flare ...

It is interesting:  At 14mm I would be more interested in comparing
how designers had dealt with flare than the minutiae of sharpness
comparisons.  I don't mean loss of overall contrast but internal
reflections due to bright objects (eg the sun) anywhere within or just
outside of the field of view.  Ah:  especially when within the image
circle but cropped by the long edge of the rectangle.

I owned a Sigma 14mm for just over a year:  it was fun but almost
unusable.  the Canon version I tried out had none of the flare
problems but it was, err, rather too expensive.    You cannot win.

Anyway:  I sold the Sigma with no regrets to see it go.
