Hello Dave,
Thank you and all the others who answered my question. That was really
helpful stuff and I hope I got it right.
I used my 70-200/2.8L and varied between no TC, one TC, and I even
tried stacking two TCs although I don't think it was very wise :-)
It was rather chilly with temperatures around zero degrees Celsius
(that's 32 F, 0 Reaumur, 273 Kelvin, 492 Rankine - what the hell is
Rankine??? and who uses Reaumur?) and a light breeze. After one hour
my fingers were stiff (in spite of the use of gloves) and I had trouble
handling the camera. I think I have to learn more about taking photos
being exposed to cold weather for a prolonged time. The weather was
exactly as predicted being cloudy at the beginning but clearing up
fast.
I used Fuji Sensia 100 during the partial eclipse and even some frames
of the total. Then I switched to Kodak Supra 800 which was used up at
the beginning of the second partial eclipse. At the end Jufi Sensia
400 was the film of my choice.
Another conclusion from this event was that I have to buy a better
tripod - the wind surely ruined some of my pics.
It was funny looking at the crowd that had gathered on that remote
meadow on one of the hills in Vienna. It reminded me of the solar
eclipse two years ago. Some took photos with flash, some even with
preflash - maybe to reduce the redness of the moon :-)
I will receive the results on Friday - I'm eagerly awaiting the
outcome.
