It's normal in 6-month old lenses. All lenses accumulate some amount of dust. Air
contains a lot of particulate matter, and as you change focus or zoom your lens, the
internal elements are pushed around, sucking air in from some places, pushing it out
in others.
The only way to avoid getting dust in your lens is to never use it.
The effect of dust within the lens is a slightly more pronounced lens flare.
The EOS lenses that feature push/pull zoom or those than change physical length when
focusing seem to be more susceptible to dust than the EOS lenses that don't change
length.
