I have searched the archives and failed to locate much information on the
TS-E 45mm f2.8 lens.

I am interested in using this lens for landscape and some building
photographs (exterior). I have little need for a TS-E lens for building
interior shots.

Specifically, I would like information regarding the sharpness, contrast etc
of the lens, and the ease of focusing (perhaps in comparison to the TS-E
24mm lens).

The reasons for considering the 45mm version are as follows (and I include
them for comment by posters):

(1) When shooting landscapes with a 24mm lens, the available depth of field
generally makes the usage of the tilt function of the 24mm TS-E lens
unnecessary. Of course even more depth of field is available with a 17 or
20mm lens.

(2) I often find that 35-45mm is an excellent focal length for landscape
photography - both in terms of visual impact and framing and composition. In
these circumstances, I would often like to use the tilt function of the lens
to increase DOF.

(3) External shots of buildings with the TS-E 24mm lens would often require
the camera to be quite close to the building (to fill the frame) and a
better working distance would be available with a 35mm to 45mm lens. I also
have concern about the ability of the shifted 24mm lens to correct the
perspective at the close working distances - I may have to step back anyway,
in which case the 45mm lens would be more suitable.

One last question - has there been further progress in analysing the
capabilities of the Asart 35mm tilt and shift lens: is it really tilt and
shift, is it available for the EOS, what is the weight and what is the image
quality?

Thanks

Chris Henshaw.
