Hi Chris,

I'd highly recommend you to place a UV filter on it.
I know that's a bit controversial, since at the very end it's just a piece of
glass, and in our business each piece of glass in front of the camera just
compromises quality.

I also got the 100f2.8 Macro USM few weeks ago and the first thing I did was to
stole the cheapo UV filter from my 75-300IS (that I seldom use) while the order
of my B+W UV filter was on its way.

I got my B+W on thursday and (re)placed it inmediately.

Yesterday I was shooting some red leaves, (indoors) on front of the living
window when the menace of my daughter just sneaked between the tripod legs
making it fall frontally against the marmer border. The first thread in the
filter is damaged and I won't be able to stack any filter on it anymore...

What if it had happened to the lens itself?

Just think....

Greetings,

Gerard.

You paid a bit too much. Here (in Belgium) where it's already expensive, I paid
about £60 less than you, including the TAX (21%)

Yes, it's really cool. I'm having quite some troubles with the composition
though, but that's the photographer's fault ;-) ;-)
