Evrim:

I bought my CANON 28-70 f2.8L.  It's the sharpest and fastest (focusing) --
not to mention it's got full-time manual focusing (FTM).  Unfortunately,
it's probably the most expensive one.  I got mine for $900.  Here's my
opinion on your list of lenses:
28-135 IS: too slow...especially at the 135 end (f5.6)
Sigma: it has FTM, but not as well constructed as the Canon
Tamron: WAY too big (82mm filter size!!).  Badly constructed, too (my friend
dropped one and we opened it up, it was all plastic...).

Maybe I'm too big of a Canon fan.  But whenever I needed to trust my Canon
lenses, they've never failed.
