Hi Ken, FWIW, there's currently a Lens Converter FD-EOS (not the macro converter
as near as I can tell) on eBay--and the bid is US$250 with two days to go. That
seems like an awful lot, but on further consideration, if I was going to keep my
FD 300/4, $250 is a bit less than the cost of an EF 300/4L so I suppose it could
be cost-effective--plus, the converter acts as a 1.26x multiplier (I believe the
additional lens element is required to maintain infinity focus with an EOS body,
since the lens-to-film distance of FD bodies is different from that in EOS
bodies), which would make that 300mm lens a 378mm lens. However, given current
prices for second-hand EF 300/4L lenses, if I were to sell the FD 300/4 and put
that money toward a used EF 300/4L, the cost of the converter (at least this
one) would be nearly as much as what I would need to pay out-of-pocket to make
of the difference--and I would have a newer, lighter lens with AF.
