If I haven't shot a whole roll, I'll remove it during the after-shooting camera/lens cleaning regiment and put it back in at a later time without skipping a frame. I have also had no problems in shooting say, half a roll in my EOS 3 and then later, putting the same roll in my Elan II and finishing it up.
