Since it seems that you have just started... can you give me pointers to
these cheap slave flashes? Some mail order companies in EU? I "scanned"
through the page and I did not see any prices for any flashes. Nor any
real recommendations... so I take it that after you have translated there
will still be no such info there. Maybe you can give me some brands,
prices and mailorder shops that sell them?
Also, I'm still confused about firing these, is it through the PC-socket
as normal studio flashes?

This I will believe. And yes, I'd like to get D30, but it's not yet the
camera I want to pay for. (Nor could I, but that's besides the point :-)

Moot point for me. I will not have any problems of that kind. (And if I
will I will live with them. I'm not building a pro studio here!)

Well this isn't quite what others have said about E-TTL. I will try to get
some of those 420EX's for loan some day and check the system. Have you
used the wireless multiflash E-TTL system? (At least you seem to talk
about TTL and E-TTL as being in the same boat, even though they are very
different, specially with the 3 group control... just makes me wonder)

What? What kind of situations would prevent the wireless flash commands
from trasmitting? I have never heard that anybody would have had any
problems with them - specially inside. What are you talking about?

This I believe. But so far the setups that would allow me to do that are
either very expensive and don't include the 550EX I already have, or would
mean that I buy several 550EX's, which I consider too expensive and would
like to go with some 420EX's if possible.

Best regards,
        Hugo.
