Hi Ken!

You're right, it's just a circuit breaking I made one myself to use it with 
EOS 500. (will make a web page) So to extend it all you need is more cable.
RS-60E3 remote has 2.5mm jack so you have to take that into account. If you 
can find stereo cable extender with 2.5mm jack and socket it will do great. 
More common are headphones extenders but they have 3.5mm jack's and socket's 
so you'll need two adapters (socket 3.5mm -> jack 2.5mm and socket 2.5mm -> 
jack 3.5mm).
You can cut the cable on your RS-60E3 and fit it with 3.5mm socket and jack, 
that way you can use it "short" or "extended" with stereo headphones 
extender.
Or you can make an extender yourself, (2.5mm jack and socket and stereo 
cable + soldering iron).
