True. That's why the FTM feature of EF lenses is nice. There is a
Canon FD to EOS adapter on B&H's web site. It says Macro so I don't
know what the down side is. $75.00US

I also remember reading that the larger diameter of the EOS EF lenses
has the advantage of being a stronger lens mount and opens the door for
lenses that were limited by the smaller diameters. My son, a Mechanical
Engineer, agrees with the first part and the second part is open for
discussion.

Stanley, Canon and Canon owners are not talking about the advantages of
being backward compatible. That is what Nikon owners that wish they had
bought Canon usually try to convince us of the advantage.

As I said before, in my opinion, the only advantage is when you own some
of the megabuck lenses that can not be replaced either because they are
not made in EF or replacement costs are super high.

Then again, as someone else said, with today's technology and computer
aided design, AF lenses are, in many ways, superior to the old manual
lenses.
There are more aspherical elements in today's lenses because computers
can be used to design them and modern manufacturing techniques make them
affordable.

Is this my final comment on this subject? I think so..... ;-)

Everybody has a photographic memory. Some just don't have any film.
