Personally I fond that 100 is too long for portraits with more than one person. I
found that I feel like I am a long way away from the subject. I think 85mm is just
about perfect. I have the 28-70L and 70-200L and I find that the 70mm is too short.
I had the 85mm in Canon FD and it was a beautiful lens. I have heard others on the
list say that the EOS 85mm lens is a very nice lens. If you are ok with 100mm, you
could get the 100mm macro lens and it would serve two roles.
