Hi Tom,
To which version of the 50/1.8 are you referring?
The ES-62 and adapter ring are accessories for the EF 50mm f/1.8 II
This lens has a shallow ridge on the barrel, but there is no place
to clip a hood.
By contrast, the previous model EF 50mm f/1.8 does indeed have a
groove on the front edge for the clip-on hood ES-65.
The ES-65 and ES-65 II do not have rayon anti-reflective flocking.
Apparently, the ES-65 III (the hood for the TS-E 90mm f/2.8) has
the anti-reflective flocking.
