Hi Julian,
Re the Coking P system:
I can't comment on either of the 20-35 zooms as I
don't own either, but I do own a Sigma 17-35 EX (my
only non Canon lens and very happy with it too for the
price!).
I use the Cokin P system with my other lenses (either
72mm or 58mm filter diameters) and it's fine with
them. The 17-35 EX however has an 82mm front element
(it REALLY hurt shelling out the money for a circular
polarizer there!!) and vignetting with the P holder is
a problem.
My solution - not very elegant - is to simply hold the
filter in position with my fingers when using the
17-35. It works, albeit somewhat clumsily. You can
either hold one or two corners depending on your
method of camera handling and there's NO vignetting -
unless of course you let the fingers stray just a
little too close - my viewfinders don't cover 100% so
that's alway a possibility.
One advantage of this approach is there's also no
vignetting even if another filter like a UV or C-PL is
already in place.
Regards
Gary
