I recently purchased, at a good price, a 24/1.4L lens which seems to be internally loose. The front half of the lens and the rear half (divided by the back of the manual focusing ring) have about one to two millimeters of rotational play. The lens works fine otherwise. Has anyone seen this problem before? Can the lens be fixed by tightening screws or is some major internal defective? Does anyone know of an experienced repair shop who works on EF L lenses? Canon (Hannover Park near Chicago) quoted $100-$150 over the phone. Thanks for your help.
