Taking us back to EOS issues, has anyone else here preferred the
European/Japanese "KISS" (ie, Keep It Simple, Stupid) to the Rebel name
line? Maybe it's because I'm a gal, but the KISS sounds cuter, something
I'd like to have, while the Rebel sounds just a bit too .... rebellious.
I must say that I do like the name Elan, though. Numbers are the easiest
to remember (though it took me a while that the 1V wasn't the IV (roman
numeral 4)) as well as the easiest to place in a product lineup => EOS 1v,
3, 5, 7....
I'm very excited about the new EOS-1D. I've been calculating that I shoot
about 50-75 rolls a year. My approximate cost per roll + home E-6
developing is $10. That's $500-750 a year. I figure that I'll get a digital
SLR body when I can amortize the cost in 1-2 years. That rules out the D-30
($3000 = 4 years) for now. But when the 1D comes out (my guess is
$5-7000?), perhaps it'll push the D-30 to affordable levels ($1500).
I bought my EOS-3 because I knew I would still be using it in 20 years. I
can't say that about any of the digital cameras right now.
