Many of you are aware of the thread that popped up a couple months ago
now where my signature file was the topic of considerable discussion.
In that thread I got defensive based on the principle of "a man's
signature file is his castle" and what I feel were inaccurate
accusations of "spam" (which I still stand by).
I thought that whole issue was done with; that we agreed to disagree
like adults. However, several people have again got hot and bothered
by it. The magnitude of their seemingly rabid disgust still eludes me
entirely as I've -never- posted any commercial content to the list.
Because I enjoy reading this list even though I don't have a lot of
expertise to offer myself, and because it appears that others will
continue to harp on this issue, I have decided it best for the common
good to remove my signature block "ad."
I still stand by my assertion that it should make no difference, and
I'm probably a wimp for not fighting based on principle, but I am
tired of seeing so much clutter over it, and I'm sure others are too.
While I personally feel the fault therein lies with the complainers,
not with me, I'm willing to make the change to keep the peace and hope
this will be the last of it.
With the exception of just one person, who knows who he is, everyone
that wrote to me privately (both positive and negative) were very
polite and expressed their opinions in an adult manner. In fact,
Jesse "the Body" Ventura (you know who you are) even made me laugh.
Anyway, I have been amazed at the reaction to this whole tempest in a
teapot issue, but although the competitor in me wants to fight on
principle, I would rather read the list in peace and learn more about
EOS.
I thank the listowner for her patience and thank the adult members for
their comments off-list where they should have been.
If anyone needs to express additional commentary (like "about time you
schmuck" or "you shouldn't have caved in to those whiners"), please
feel free to email privately, but as I've made a concession to clean
up the list, please don't invalidate it by continuing this debate here
(or the sig might just return..... <G>).
