EOS 100-300 4.5-5.6 vs 100-300 5.6L

Looking to replace an 11 year old 70-210.  Which of these two would you
recommend.  The 100-300 4.5-5.6 is $300 and the 5.6L is $350.

The lens will be used 10-15x a year at the racetrack (cars) and during
vacations on a Elan IIe.
