HI All,
I notices something interesting about F stop display and how one of my
lenses reacts to it.
It's Tokina 35-300 4.5-6.7. At the long end (300) where it's supposed to be
6.7 it always only goes to 5.6. Regardless on which body - Elan (original),
RT or 1n. Only 1n is the body where F stops can be adjusted to either 1/3 or
1/2. Furthermore - When this lens is at 300mm, wide open and displays on
camera body 5.6 instead of 6.7, and I look inside the lens from the front,
while holding the DOF button, - I can actually see that at that 5.6 it is
wide open and when I switch to 6.7 - the advertised F stop it's supposed to
be on the long end - I can actually see that blades move to close it down a
bit. All this makes it look like it's a 4.5-5.6 lens. not 4.5-6.7.
So, - the question is - is this lens really 5.6 at the long end and not 6.7
like Tokina says it is? Or am I lucky to get the unusual one?
BTW - AF, that's supposed to not work after 5.6 - works well too at the long
end.
 Any comments, ideas on this?
George
