I think that might not be very effective because I'm pretty sure the AF
algorithm changes in the camera with slower lenses (slows it down I suspect)
to make it more accurate. Maybe if they have a 'slo-mo' AF mode that kicks
in as soon as f5.6 (or f8 for the pro cameras) is reached which, as you
said, at least *tries* to AF. Would be a very good idea if they supplied
that with a custom function.
