Flash technology hasn't exactly advanced all that far in 6 years, so the 
430EZ is not obsolete.  If it does TTL, then it's good enough for any 
current body, even the 1V.  Don't get too obsessed about all these 
new-fangled photo gadgets.  Whatever they do compared to older equipment is 
quite marginal over the core technology that was developed years ago.
