Sorry this is off topic but...

After decades working with photographic equipment, I have never bought or
owned a loupe. Now I want to get one. I have mostly Canon 35mm equipment but
I also have a 645 system. I see 4x, 8x, etc. etc., and prices that range
from cheap enough to what seems remarkably expensive for a little magnifier.
But I'll get an expensive one if it's like the difference between a $99
Cambron and a $1200 Canon L lens.

I chiefly want to use it to figure out which of several similar (e.g.
bracketed) shots to scan, as I'm trying to abandon wet darkroom work. But I
also have a couple of cameras that imprint date and exposure information
between and/or next to frames, in a size that it's getting a bit hard for
these old eyes to read.

Is it just, "the bigger the better so maximize all parameters including
cost"? Is it "they're really all the same"? I would appreciate any advice as
to which size, brand and magnification to get.

Thanks in advance,
