Hello Kenneth,

When I chose to buy a loupe I did some testing in different shops. The
difference in quality was astounding. The cheap Carson-loupe had no
chance against the Canon or Rodenstock or Schneider. I ended up buying
a Schneider 4x because I could see the whole frame and there was no
falloff to the corners whereas the Canon and the Rodenstock can't show
the whole frame (ok, it's just a tiny bit, but enough for me)

I would recommend thorough testing before you decide. You will have
your loupe a long time, therefore you should not skimp on this point.
Between 4x and 5x is no big difference. Have a look for yourself with
sharp contrasty slides and choose which one suites you most.

However, I can't comment on 6x7 loupes - never tested them.
