Thanks to everyone for your advice. It turned out to be a non-issue, as I
brought my gear to the morning games and the "borrower" didn't show up.
After shooting 2 games in 116 degree heat, I opted not to bring my camera to
the afternoon finals...he was there, but neither of us mentioned the camera.
I hope it doesn't come up again but if it does I will try to steel myself
and either explain that I'm just not comfortable with my equipment in
someone else's hands, or bring up the insurance issue. And if worse gets to
worst, I'll blame it on my husband :)
A couple more thoughts that crossed my mind--I don't know what kind of
results he could even expect to get with an unfamiliar camera and lens...it
might very well be a waste of time. And as someone else mentioned, I'd be
setting a precedent and perhaps other parents would be lining up to borrow
my gear.
