EOS How to test red-eye-red. light?

Hi!

I think my Eos 30 doesn't work properly. For some reason I can't get the red eye
reduction lamp work at all. I have only tested it without any film in camera,
but that should not have any influence on it, should it? So could someone say a
reliable way to test it: I'd like to know settings which will show the light.
