Yes, it is a big white dog, and Canon is coming out with an IS version real
soon :-).

All indications say that the 70-200/4 is as good as the 70-200/2.8. It also
focuses a foot closer too. Whether you need the extra stop or not is up to
you, and dependent on a few factors:
1. Twice the weight for the 2.8
2. Twice the cost for the 2.8
