Assuming the flash doesn't have any effect on the background exposure
then just point the camera (assuming it is in M-mode) and see the
exposure meter. It tells it directly. It's a pitty that e.g. 50E
only shows +-2 stops. The '3' is better with the +-3 stop scale.
