Ian:
The Nikkor 80-400 VR has been released with reports from various owners who
comment on how nice the optics are (if they own one of only 4 Nikon bodies
it's compatible with). They are also candid (read: honest) enough to admit
that it is extremely slow focusing and quite a noisy lens, both due I guess
to Nikon's unusual decision to omit their Silent Wave motor as one of the
lens' features.
