I'm pretty confident EOS 3 is strong enough to carry its weight.
I've seen someone handle EOS 5 with 35-350 (which is pretty much
same size and weight as the 100-400) rather roughly, like zooming
it from 35 to 350mm by holding the body only and swinging it...
