I'm glad there was no tragic ending to your story. I'm curious--what
city/country are you in? I carry pepper spray at all times here in Los
Angeles, in a little canister on my key ring, although I admit I've never
thought about having to use it to protect my camera gear. In fact, when I'm
shooting I probably couldn't get to the pepper spray in time anyway. I carry
it mainly to protect my dog--at 220 lbs. you'd think he should be protecting
me, but it's the other way around :) My camera gear is all insured, so if
someone ever challenged me for it I'd give it up. If I had time and could
think clearly, I'd try to save my exposed film.
