Hi Dieter,

        I think 100 would be long enough for me.  I used to have a 
ef 75-300 but sold it because it was to slow (hence my pause to buy the 
70-200/4).  I used the $$ to finance my eos5 purchase.  I never used it
beyond 100.  I want it for portraits as this is a field I seem to be
doing
more.  My 50/1.8 is great for this as long as I'm not to close.  The
70-200/4 
is slow for my liking as I like to run wide open allot,  but I was not
sure
if the nice glass in this lens is worth putting up with the f4.  I will
also
use it (100/2) when I want that compressed look of course.  My wife and
I
travel so the size of the 70-200 is also an issue for me.
