Allows FP flash with Speedlite 380EX. Provides high-speed flash
synchronisation (FP flash) with the Speedlite 380EX when used with
manual flash exposure. (Not available for EOS 1N RS)"
I take the text "manual flash exposure" to mean that the EOS 1N cannot
meter the flash in FP mode (ie. E-TTL). With the 380EX (and 420EX),
that would mean full power. The effective distance could be varied by
changing the zoom angle and/or lens aperture. Not very useful.
