Hi Don,

I usually use the "E" of the EOS50E... yeap I love the eye-control stuff. But
you have to be kidding me when you're saying that you have never had troubles
focusing at wedding parties. Maybe they were all well lighted. The one I had to
photograph last week was an AF nightmare... "romantic" lighting meant dimmed
halogens and no enough light even for at ISO1600 at anything above 1/10f5.6
(28-135 IS) (Delta 3200 downrated gives very nice results). The AF assist light
on the 550EX was of big help, but only when it was on-camera and not on the
flash bracket (where it HAD to be for more flattering lighting and to avoid
harsh shadows). Poin

At the short distance I was and with the 100 mm lens, I only had a baby face and
a glass of champagne at the same plane with the shirt of the daddy as
background. Eye control efectively selected the point I wanted (on the eye of
the baby.... very important in many portraits) and then it went for a walk
across all focusing distances in the lens. Using the focus limiter would have
helped, but there was no time for that and I didn't think of it beforehand :-(

One shot.
