I am having a problem with my flash exposures lately. I have been taking
swing dance pictures at dark venues with good success using my 550EX.
For example : http://www.evrimgallery.com/Dance/amy_dancing_viscount.jpg

Lately, I have been getting a lot of underexposure (mostly at the
background) see : http://www.evrimgallery.com/temp/0073.jpg
The only things that have changed :
a) I have been manual focusing most of the time (instead of letting the
camera decide which active focus area to choose from).
b) Sometimes using a flash bracket (Stroboframe)
c) I bumped my flash a little bit (ever so slightly it should nto do
anything, but then you never know)

I have a Canon Elan IIe.

How does the ETTL work in manual focusing mode? I usually let it at the P
mode on the camera. ANy thoughts?
