Well, it's not 97% of the area but 97% in vertical and horizontal
direction. So it is 0.97*0.97=0.94 of the total area. Or 24*0.03=0.72
and 36*0.03=1.08mm total on the vertical and horizontal direction.
I agree that this is close to a 100% viewfinder. Nevertheless, for some
pictures the difference still might be important. 24*0.06=1.44mm and
36*0.06=2.16mm. No wonder I always framed to tight or even cut of stuff
at times.
