Sounds almost like 5x7 format to me.  Not very popular in
the US anymore. There is almost an abundance of LF formats
out there,  e.g. 2x3 - some of which match weirder paper
formats (e.g. 11x14).

4x5 is not exactly 4 inches by 5 inches.  It is nearly
interchangable with 9x13cm,  which is also not exactly
9 cm by 13 cm.

At least postcards seem to have a common standard (4x6" or
10x15cm).
