I tried to use a Rebel 2000 in my hummingbird photography but ran afoul of a feature
presumably meant to save me from imperfectly focused shots.

I understand the camera will not fire in some modes unless the image is in focus.
However this is not supposed to be the case in manual mode according to the manual.
In full manual mode I was not able to get the camera to fire when the birds
appeared. Very frustrating and I have given up on the body for this particular
purpose and reverted to the EOS3. Perfect focus is seldom obtainable in the fraction
of a second available in this kind of photography . . . the lens is stopped to f22
for this reason and, of course, I want the camera to fire when I want, not when it
thinks it should. It appears that sometimes is will fire but often it will not.

This is in direct contradiction to how I understand the camera is supposed to work
when in manual mode and renders it rather less useful as a second body that I had
hoped. Is there anyway around this with the Rebel 2000?
