The Elan II and the A2 have both built in flash and focus assist light.
Or did you mean in one unit?
I think Canon's reasoning is that in low light, on the 1 series and the
EOS 3, you'll have a flash mounted, since they lack one built in, and
the hot shoe mounted flash will have a focus assist light.
